The End

Patricia SantanaMy name is Patricia Santana, welcome to my little corner of the web where I show you what I tinker with when I should be sleeping....
You will find updates, musings, meanderings and specials by clicking The Bench...It is a work in progress and not nearly finished. So check back again!

Before I could speak, and barely walk...I used to stumble along the beach, tirelessly collecting shells and pretty rocks, and I guess that's where my journey began. I have always loved glass (and jewelry.)  I remember as a 6-year old, back in Sweden (where I'm from) going to the Zoo (which also had live folk art exhibits) where the artisans demonstrated glass blowing. I was mesmerized, couldn't get my eyes off the soft flowing liquid, that so quickly was worked into bowls, carafes and plates. Afterward I also remember climbing around in their scrap pile, looking for interesting shapes of their cutoff leftover chunks and shapes, sometimes soft and flowing shapes, sometimes with sharp edges and glittering, ...but always fascinating. In my early teens I (mis-)appropriated my father's soldering tools and pliers, to convert bangles into rings...dabbling in enamels, tumble polishing semiprecious stones, and making beads from magazine pages...

Years later I stumbled across lampworking and metal smithing, which both quickly turned into a passion (don't want to call it OBSESSION, but my Darling Husband Leonardo sometimes does...) and here is where my journey continues...
